Navigating Multiple Transit Agencies
Living in Hampton Roads means navigating multiple transit agencies. Here are some tips for making your public transit trips easy:
Use a trip planner. A digital trip planner, like Google Maps, will show you where to make a transfer and how much the fare will be.
Explore transfer points. Each agency has one or more designated areas where you can transfer to another agency’s route. Once you know the transfer points, you can easily navigate the systems.
Have your fare ready. You’ll need enough fare for each transit agency. Most still require exact change at the farebox. Be prepared to purchase multiple fares if you’re boarding multiple agencies.
Locate a park and ride. If you have access to a vehicle, but don’t want to drive it all the way to work, you can locate a park and ride within the agency that serves your workplace/destination to park your vehicle and then board transit from there.
